Matariki

Hello everybody,  this term we are learning about matariki and we are going to be learning about it for two more weeks and learn heaps of Maori games and in week 7 and it will be about 15 minutes long. Right now we are doing a task where we have to name 3 facts about matariki.

1. Matariki is the Maori New Year and that's because the Maori relied on the stars for a lot and matariki also shows them its a good time to start planting all their crops.
2. The matariki stars are also a logo for a Japanese car brand called Subaru.
3. There are originally 7 stars but in the last couple years they found 2 more stars so now there are a total of nine stars.

Supernova

A few million years for the star to die, less than a quarter of a second for its core to collapse, a few hours for the shock wave to reach the surface of the star, a few months to brighten, and then just few years to fade away

Hello in class today we have been learning about what is a supernova is today, I worked with Shanaya for

this task and she has taught me a lot about all the different elements. I hope we carry on with this task because i really enjoy this.

What is a supernova? A supernova is the explosion of a star. It is the largest explosion that takes place in

space. A supernova is a star with a powerful and luminous stellar explosion. One type of supernova is caused by the last hurrah of a dying massive star. This happens when a star at least five times of the mass of our sun goes out with a fantastic bang!

What elements does a supernova consist of?  HE-  Helium  C- carbon  - H hydrogen  O- oxygen

AU - gold - Fe - iron Si - silicon

What happens to all elements/ materials in a supernova? After Years and decades the sun starts to burn the

core of the supernova until it explodes. The He and H will make the boom and the iron and Au

Supernova / star releases a very large amount of energy as well as neutrons, which allows elements

heavier than iron such as Au/ gold and U/uranium to be produced.

Why is there a supernova?

How long does a supernova take to generate?

A few million years for the star to die, less than a quarter of a second for its core to collapse,

Bully poem questions

Hello Today we are working on answering some questions that we need to answer from the bully poem We have reading the story to the whole class. I know I'm going to like this task because I love poems.
Q1. what did did this poem make you feel about the bully?  A1. I think that the bully is sad and that is why he bullies people and since he bullies people that makes people not want to be around him and he is very lonely because he doesn't have any friends. Q2. If I saw the bully, what might I do? A2. I would stand in front of the victim and stand up for them but if not I would go get a stuff member that is on jute.

The storm

Hello lately I have been working on my narrative writing in whea  Reawyn and i have been doing this for about three weeks now and I've loved it

The Storm

                                  Stella Coles-Toki
Smashing through the waves, pushing and pulling back and forth again and again making me feel sea sick. Once the sun is slowly rising the water changes colour. A beautiful orange glow shimmering on the top of the water. It tastes like salt flakes splashing in my mouth, the refreshing sea water brushing through the middle of my fingers and creating an amazing mist covering my whole face. After hours and hours go past watching Majestic sea animals jumping up and down. A while has gone past and we can all see a roaring storm approaching the grey clouds gathering about to attack with their frightening lightning strikes. The clouds are as dark as a shark's eye. The whole waka shakes. All I hear is everyone shouting but I can't understand anything they are saying. I thought I felt sea sick before I was so wrong I was throwing up everywhere I thought I was going to die. This went on for days. I was so relieved to see light finally it felt so nice to have the glow all over my skin, the fish were jumping. It was the perfect summer day and everyone cheered with joy. The chef said “Not far to go now”
Right then was the happiest moment from the whole trip hearing those five words, I couldn't wait to feel stable ground under my feet. Everyone said that right when we get off we are going to have a massive fest. I miss a good fest, haven't had one of them for a couple months now. I could see the soft golden sand. I couldn't wait so I cannonball into the beautiful crystal blue water. It felt fresh and crisp. It felt so amazing. I ran onto sore twirling round and round, slamming onto the ground with enjoyment and making sand angels. I never felt more alive. It finally came to the time for kia i was amazing the meat fell off the bone and the potatoes melted in my mouth this will differently the most remembered trip of my life.
